Les Crestes /2008

Fruity, fresh and expressive. A genuine young and delicious Priorat wine.

FEATURES:

  • GRAPE VARIETIES: 80% Grenache, 10% Carignan, 10 % Syrah
  • ALCOHOLIC CONTENT: 15%
  • SOILS & VINES: Les Crestes vineyards are situated at a height of 350/400 meters above sea level on hillsides of pronounced slopes, with the characteristic slate soil called "licorella".
    A third of the grapes comes from vineyards of more than 50 years old, and the rest comes from vineyards with an average of 15/20 years old.
  • AGEING: Grape selection in vineyards, and at the winery grape entry, with two consecutive table selection. Fermentation in small tank size of stainless steel, at controlled temperature of 26 ºC, with a total maceration period of 15 days. Aging of 10 months in French oak (very thin grain).

Les Crestes is a new cuvee from Mas Doix. A third of the grapes come from vineyards of more than 50 years old, and the rest comes from vineyards with an average of 15/20 years old. The blend is 70% Grenache, 20%Carignan and 10% Syrah aged for 10 months in three-year-old French oak barrels. Strong mineral Priorat character with fresh flavour; an excellent wine, juicy vivid cherry fruit with touches of sweep spice and liquorice, expressive and very focused.
