  • GRAPE VARIETIES: 65% Grenache, 25% Carignane, 10 % Syrah
  • SOILS & VINES: Salanques vineyards are situated at a height of 350/450 meters above sea level on hillsides of pronounced slopes, with the characteristic slate soil called "licorella". Wine elaborated with Grenache and Carignan of old vines between 70 and 90 years, as well as younger vines for varieties of Syrah,
  • VINTAGE AND CLIMATE: Small and healthy grapes because of one of the driest summers we have ever had. Moderate temperatures in average with small rains in September gave us one of the quietest and longest harvest in years. Very good ripening and well kept acidity. A vintage that will make a difference. 
  • AGEING: Grapes picked by hand using 10 kg. boxes. Selection in vineyards and at the entrance of the winery.
    Classification berry by berry on a double sorting table in the winery. Aging of 14 months in French oak barrels.

Nice impact of ripe dark plums on the nose highlighted by savoury and peppery notes. Juicy and well-structured in the mouth.

The 2016 Salanques checks in as 65% Grenache (from 80-year-old vines) and the balance Carignan and Syrah, all of whichwas destemmed and spent 14 months in new and once-used barrels. Giving up a rocking bouquet of plum and blueberry fruitsintermixed with plenty of minerality, violets, and hints of iodine, it’s medium to full-bodied, loaded with fruit, has a stacked midpalate,and loads of character.

Color: very intense cherry, violet edge. Aroma: with character, candied fruit, dried flowers, dried herbs. Palate: concentrated, fruity, balsamic.

Tasting notes - Vila Viniteca

Ruby color with violet reflections. In the nose is a symphony of fruit of the forest, such as cranberries, raspberries and redcurrants, with a balsamic background and a slight note of wood. In the mouth it is bulky and covers the tongue with a dense texture. It has a good structure made up of still present tannins that will be polished with a storage time in the bottle. End that lengthens and reminds you of blackberries and cherries. An essential Priorat to start enjoying now or store in the private winery for a lustrum. It will be the ideal companion for meats such as a roast lamb, veal round in sauce or game, as well as cured cow cheeses. Serve between 14 and 16ºC in the Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot Cup of Riedel Vinum series (416/0) or in the Syrah Cup of Riedel Grape series (6404/30). Valentí Llagostera.  - December 2018

Fresh, balsamic and with a refined opulence. It starts mineral, with details of mountain herbs, and continues with a background of greater fruity presence. Complex in the mouth, with a delicious and well integrated acidity that makes this wine a very pleasant experience. Persistent, evocative.
